Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

She attended University of California Los Angeles to earn degrees in English as well as African American Studies. DuVernay started producing for broadcast journalism while she was still in college. She was an intern with CBS News at the time of O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay recalled being given the responsibility of looking over the residence and scrutinizing the waste belonging to one of the juries. When she was dissatisfied with journalism due to the work she was given she decided to pursue a career in publicity. DuVernay started her career as a junior publicity assistant at a small film studio following her graduation from college. The DuVernay Agency is her first PR agency. Additionally, she started a variety of lifestyle and promotion networks such as Urban Beauty Collective. Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful, and Urban Thought Collective.
