Rochon has the father of Zelma Staples and Samuel Staples. She was born in Torrance, Los Angeles, to Zelma Staples and Samuel Staples. Cerritos High School, Cerritos California is where she graduated from high school in the year 1982. She completed her bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism with minors from theatre and sociology at California State University Dominguez hills (CSUDH). Ullerup was first seen in Battlestar Galactica remake, the Sci Fi Channel's 2006 TV show. She played Julia Brynn. In the initial two seasons of Sanctuary the actress appeared as Ashley Magnus until the character was eliminated. The reason for her departure led to heated discussion among supporters. Many wanted to bring her back on the show in a subsequent episodes. However, the show was cancelled in 2012. Ullerup appeared in Chesapeake Shores as Bree O'Brien. Ullerup played Maggie Thomas, the estranged wife of Michael Thomas, in the disaster movie Asteroid: Final Impact (2015). Ullerup was Dale Travers, a recurring character within Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered films, from 2016 to today.
